Paris or Antwerp: where to buy your diamond?

I was born in Antwerp and I work in Paris. Clients often ask me which city is better for buying a diamond. The honest answer: the diamond can be the same. What changes is the experience, the time you have and what you are looking for.

Antwerp, the trade capital

Antwerp is the world's diamond capital. In 2025, about 19 billion dollars of diamonds were traded there. The diamond quarter, next to Central Station, gathers the bourses, the dealers, the cutters and the laboratories, including HRD. It is a place of work more than a shopping street, and the best addresses are behind closed doors.

Paris, the city of the jewel

Paris is the city of jewellery, of the great houses and of the proposal. Most visitors are already there. The diamond quarter of the 9th arrondissement, near the Opéra, has its own dealers, and many of their stones come from Antwerp.

Is a diamond cheaper in Antwerp?

The price of a certified diamond is set by the world market, not by the city. A given stone, with the same grading report, costs about the same in Paris and in Antwerp when you buy it from a dealer. The real difference is between buying from a dealer and buying from a brand. For visitors from outside the EU, both France and Belgium offer a VAT refund, with their own conditions.

• In Paris, I receive you by appointment in Paris 9th, near the Opéra, all year round.
• In Antwerp, I have an office in the heart of the diamond quarter, and I receive clients there by appointment, depending on the dates.
• In both cities, the stones are selected by me, certified by GIA or HRD, and I send you videos of each diamond before your visit.

Timing: plan before you travel

If you stay a few days in Antwerp, a ring with a ready-made setting can be ready in one or two days. A fully bespoke creation takes more than a week. To have it ready when you arrive, we validate the stone and the 3D drawing beforehand, by WhatsApp or video.

Paris and Antwerp are about two hours apart by direct train. Many clients combine the two: they choose the stone in Paris and visit Antwerp, or the opposite.

Only if you want the experience. With a dealer who buys on the Antwerp market, you have access to the same stones in Paris.

Can I visit the Antwerp diamond quarter?
You can walk around the district near Central Station. The bourses are reserved for members, and dealers receive clients by appointment.

Do you receive clients in Antwerp?
