Sharing a budget is never uncomfortable, it's actually the most useful starting point. It lets me show you only realistic stones, rather than having you compare diamonds out of reach. No budget is too modest to deserve time and proper advice.
Rather than quoting prices that never reflect the real diversity of the market, here's how I approach each budget level, always adjusting the right levers, never at random.
The goal is to preserve what matters most: an excellent cut and a serious certification, even if it means slightly adjusting weight or clarity. A smaller, perfectly cut diamond always shines more than a larger, poorly cut one.
This is often where balance comes most naturally: a real choice of shapes and colours opens up, and the setting can start to express real style without excessive constraint on the stone.
More room to manoeuvre lets you prioritise what truly matters to you: a near-colourless grade, high clarity, or a more generous weight, based on your priorities, not mine.
At this level, the search becomes one for an exceptional stone: D colour, rare clarity, or a fancy colour diamond. This is where my experience buying rough mine production truly comes into its own, sourcing a genuinely singular stone.
As a general rule, most of the budget should go to the diamond itself. A simple setting can always be enhanced later, a diamond's quality, however, cannot be changed after purchase.
